Police hunting a sex attacker who abducted a 10-year-old girl in Lancashire are appealing for CCTV footage from local businesses.

Detectives are reviewing footage from 9 May, the day the girl was snatched, but have asked anyone with private CCTV to come forward.

The victim was grabbed on Martindale Avenue and driven to land off Rossall Lane, where she was sexually assaulted.

Police said they were interested in footage with a view of public highways.

The exact route taken by the offender is still unclear but specific streets of interest to the police are: Westway, The Strand, Fairway, Marine Parade and Broadway.

New leads

Det Supt Kevin Toole said: "I am mindful that there may still be people out there that have private systems that we are unaware of.

"I would therefore urge anybody that has a private CCTV system and has not yet been contacted by police to come forward.

"I am particularly interested in any footage that gives a view of the public highways."

The girl was picked up by the man at 1320 BST outside a sweet shop on Martindale Avenue.

The man is described as 30, with short, balding hair and was wearing blue jeans and a blue checked shirt.

Police said they had several new lines of inquiry after issuing a computer-generated image of the suspect.

Anyone who recognises his face is urged to contact Lancashire Police.
