Pc Angela Bradley and two colleagues died off the Blackpool coast
A lasting tribute to three police officers who drowned trying to save a man at sea is being planned at a memorial garden in Lancashire.
Pc Angela Bradley, Pc Gordon Connolly and Pc Colin Morrison died at Gynn Square, Blackpool in 1983, along with the man they had tried to rescue.
A fundraising dinner has been organised to raise £15,000 to restore nearby Jubilee Gardens.
A plaque to honour those who die protecting others will be placed there.
The dinner, which will be held at Blackpool FC later, has been organised by the Gynn Square Memorial Fund.
Others to be honoured include Supt Gerry Richardson who was shot dead during an armed robbery in Blackpool in 1971 and firefighter Raymond Laycock who died fighting a fire at the Boots store in Blackpool in 1936.
The fundraising committee for the memorial has already raised £8,000 towards the £15,000 target but will continue to raise funds through a series of different events.
