Police appeal over photo mystery

Recovered photo
Police believe the photo was stolen from a house

Police have launched a search to find the owner of a decades-old photograph stolen from a house in Lancashire.

The black-and-white snapshot, which shows a young couple, was recovered by officers investigating a string of burglaries in the Ribble Valley.

They believe it was taken from a house in Blackburn, the Ribble Valley, or over the border in Oldham.

Anyone who recognises the couple in the old photograph is urged to contact Lancashire Police.

The picture appears to dates from the 1950s or 1960s and shows a couple posing in what what could be the front room of a house.

Detectives believe it could hold sentimental value for its owner and are appealing for help to solve what they described as "the mystery".

Det Sgt Nigel Watson said: "The original photo is just larger than passport size and we are keen to reunite it with its owners.

"I appeal to anyone who recognises the people in the photo to contact us."
