Vibrating pad raises fire alarm

Two residents were alerted to a fire at their Lancashire home by a vibrating alarm, recently fitted by firefighters.

A tumble dryer caught fire in a conservatory at the bungalow at Draperfield, Chorley, overnight.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started when water from the roof leaked on to the tumble dryer during heavy downpours.

A vibrating smoke alarm pad under a bed pillow, fitted during a home safety check, was activated.

One of the two people in the house tried to pour water onto the fire and both received oxygen at the scene, the fire service said.
