The scheme is part of the regeneration of the whole coast

A coastline in Lancashire is to be transformed into a "cultural haven" after being awarded £835,000 of government funding. Wyre's seafront, running between Cleveleys and Fleetwood, could soon have an array of public artwork, a heritage trail and a wildlife centre. The cash injection is from the government's Sea Change programme, which helps to regenerate seafronts. All ideas will go to consultation, a Wyre Council spokeswoman confirmed. Council leader Russell Forsyth believes the Sea Change funding will be the catalyst for more regeneration. He said: "With a cultural coast in place, the potential for attracting even more investment to Wyre is immense. "It's very encouraging to see the first piece of the Fleetwood masterplan falling into place and if you add to this the plans for the proposed food, fish and business park - which have been recognised by the North West Development Agency - it's definitely a sign of better times ahead."
