Murder probe after man found dead

A murder inquiry is under way after a man was found dead at a house in Lancashire.

The body was discovered by a resident at the back of a property in Abbeystead, Skelmersdale, at 1015 GMT.

Police said the victim had not been identified and a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the cause of death.

The house was sealed off while forensic examinations were carried out by Lancashire police.

Detective Superintendent Andy Webster, who is leading the investigation, said: "We have a team of detectives working hard to establish what happened.

"As yet, we haven't been able to identify the body. All we can say at this stage is that it is that of a white man."

Anyone with information should call Lancashire Police on 01772 614444.
