Two men charged over park murder

Two men will appear before magistrates in Burnley on Friday

Two men have been charged with the murder of a woman who was stabbed to death in a Lancashire park.

Louise Evans, 18, suffered multiple head wounds in the attack in Towneley Park, Burnley, on Tuesday.

Matthew Maw, 18, and Anthony Wood, 20, both of Elizabeth Street, have been charged with her murder. They will appear before magistrates on Friday.

Three other men also arrested aged 22, 20 and 17, and a woman, 19, were all released without charge.

A post-mortem examination revealed Miss Evans died from multiple injuries.

She was believed to have been living in a hostel before the attack.
