Pedestrian, 69, is injured by car

A 69-year-old man has been left with serious head injuries after being hit by a car in Lancashire.

The man, from the Lancaster area, was walking on Bowerham Road in Lancaster, when he was struck by a grey Citroen car at about 0942 BST, police said.

He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital, where he is said to be in a serious condition.

The 71-year-old driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital suffering from shock but has been discharged.

Bowerham Road was closed for several hours following the incident and police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
