A youth has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died from injuries he sustained in an attack.

Adam Rogers, 24, suffered serious head injuries in Northgate, Blackburn, at 0335 BST on Sunday. He died later on in hospital.

Mr Rogers, of Dukes Brow in the town, was near the Gladstone monument when he was attacked.

Lancashire Police confirmed a 16-year-old man was being held on suspicion of his murder.

Street fight

Mr Rogers was attacked after he and a group of friends, who had been drinking in the Live Lounge bar, got involved in a fight with a group of five people who had also been in the bar.

He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital, where he died on Sunday afternoon.

Det Supt Neil Hunter, who is leading the investigation, made an appeal for witnesses to contact police.

"I would urge anyone who may have any information to come forward," he said.

"In particular, I would like to speak to any witnesses to the altercation itself and anyone who saw either of the groups in the Live Lounge."
