Man, 24, 'critical' after attack

A 24-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was hit on the head during a night out in Blackburn.

Adam Rogers, from Duke's Brow in the town, was found unconscious by emergency crews in Northgate at 0335 BST on Sunday, Lancashire Police said.

He was near the Gladstone monument when a man described as having blond, highlighted hair is thought to have attacked him.

The attacker was with a group of people who made off towards Blackburn College.

Police believe the group had earlier been in the town's Live Lounge bar at the same time as Mr Rogers and his friends.

The man believed to be the offender is described as white, between 19 and 21 years old and 5ft 7in (1.70m) tall.

He was wearing a white T-shirt with a distinctive red and brown pattern and dark-coloured jeans.

Det Supt Neil Hunter, the officer leading the investigation, said: "Adam is in a seriously critical condition in hospital and I would urge anyone who may have any information at all to come forward.

"In particular, I would like to speak to any witnesses to the altercation itself and anyone who may have seen either Adam, his friends or the offender and his group in the Live Lounge bar."
