Road to re-open after huge fire

Fire in Blackpool
Yates Wine Lodge was devastated by the blaze

Work is continuing to reopen the main road near the scene of a fire which devastated part of Blackpool's centre.

The blaze, which began in an alley between Clifton Street and Talbot Square, gutted Yates's Wine Lodge and other businesses two weeks ago.

Blackpool Council said it plans to reopen Talbot Road on Monday, after work throughout the weekend to secure the buildings with scaffolding.

Clifton Street and most of the businesses near the scene are now open.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with aggravated arson.

More than 100 fire fighters dealt with the fire. The last flames were extinguished on Tuesday.
