Transporter crash blocks motorway

A car transporter has overturned on the M6 motorway in Lancashire causing lengthy queues of traffic.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway of the M6 between junctions 31a and 32 in the Fulwood and Broughton areas, police said.

Lane closures have been put into place as emergency services clear debris from the vehicles which broke free from the transporter.

The driver of the transporter has been taken to hospital.

A police spokeswoman said the driver's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
