Police investigating the murder of a man whose body has not been found are appealing to a man who called them last week with "interesting" information.

Officers believe Alan Street, 26, was killed at a house in Stockbridge Road, Padiham, Lancashire, before Christmas.

His blood was found in the house and in the boot of a car belonging to Alan Palmer, who is wanted over the killing.

Det Supt Neil Hunter is now urging a man who contacted police last Tuesday to call him directly.

Det Supt Hunter, who is in charge of the investigation, said: "I would urge the man to make contact with us.

"The information he provided was extremely interesting and it is very important that we speak to him again.

"What he tells me will be treated in the strictest of confidence and I am quite prepared to speak with him direct."

Police are still trying to find two local men, Alan Palmer and Peter Leonard, who they believe may have been involved in the incident.

Mr Leonard, 51, is white, about 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build with blue eyes and light brown hair, cut very short.

He has a two-inch scar on his nose and the words LOVE and HEIDI tattooed on his hands.

Mr Palmer, 43, is white, 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build, with receding or very closely shaven dark hair.

He has brown eyes and several tattoos on his left arm, including a snake's head, a bull, an eagle and a swallow.

On his right arm he has tattoos of a snake and a skull, as well as the words MAM and LUCKY.

Police believe the two men are together.

One man, Keiran Davison, 20, of Stockbridge Road, Padiham, has been charged with murder.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
