Landlord injured in pub robbery

A landlord was knocked unconscious by masked robbers who targeted his Lancashire pub in the early hours.

The 23-year-old and his 25-year-old partner were woken by a window being smashed at the Oddfellows Arms in Clayton-le-Moors.

Police said there was a "violent confrontation" during which the landlord was knocked out and received cuts to his legs.

The landlady was forced to hand over about £750 to the robbers.

Det Insp Stephen Dowson, of Lancashire police, said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for both the landlord and landlady and luckily the injuries received are not as serious as they could have been.

"Enquires have been carried out throughout the day to find out who is responsible and the investigation is still at an early stage."
