Driver dies after two-car crash

A man who was seriously injured in a crash involving two cars in Lancashire has died in hospital.

Wasim Islam, 21, from Haslingden, was driving a Lexus which was involved in a crash with an Audi near the Duke of Wellington pub on Grane Road.

Both drivers were taken to hospital for treatment after Tuesday's crash. The road was closed for three hours.

Mr Islam was treated for serious head injuries and later died. The driver of the Audi suffered minor injuries.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said an investigation into the cause of the crash is under way.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
