Man killed in warehouse accident

A 50-year-old man has died and another man suffered serious leg injuries after both became trapped in an accident at a Lancashire warehouse.

Police found the men stuck under heavy industrial equipment at Brookhouse Patterns Ltd, at the India Mill Business Centre, Darwen, on Wednesday.

Both were rescued and taken to hospital but one man died in the early hours of Thursday.

The second man, in his 50s, is having surgery for leg injuries.

Lancashire Police and the Health and Safety Executive are to carry out a joint investigation into the accident.

Det Insp Claire Holbrook described it as a "tragic incident" .
