A man has admitted murdering his wife at their Lancashire home.

Pamela Mulholland, 52, was found by firefighters at the couple's home in Heritage Way, Tarleton, Preston, in July. She died from stab wounds.

David Mulholland, 58, was charged with her murder at the time and was remanded in custody until his trial.

Mr Mulholland pleaded guilty to murder at a hearing at Preston Crown Court and is due to reappear at the same court to be sentenced on 16 December.

Det Chief Insp Des Coop from the Force Major Investigation Team said: "This was a tragic case where Pamela was murdered in a sustained and violent attack and died from multiple stab wounds.

"Our thoughts today are with Pamela's friends and family."
