'Cheating wife stabbed husband'

A cheating wife "lured her husband to his death" in a Pakistan hotel room, Manchester Crown Court has heard.

Yasira Pervez, 24, and Ian Priddle, 46, allegedly stabbed 21-year-old Khurum Mukhtar to death at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Rawalpindi in December 2006.

Both Yasira Pervez, of Pendle Street, Accrington, and Ian Priddle, of Jubilee Road, Haslingden, deny murder.

The prosecution said Mr Priddle's "presence in Pakistan was in order to see off his rival", Mr Mukhtar.

The court heard that Yasira Pervez had an arranged marriage to Mr Mukhtar, her cousin, in Pakistan in April 2005.

She returned to England without her husband after their wedding because he did not have permission to reside in the UK. He was expected to return at a later date.

'Jointly responsible'

Prosecutor Peter Wright QC said Ian Priddle and Yasira Pervez were lovers and had flown out together to Pakistan on Christmas Eve 2006 after Yasira Pervez had arranged to meet her husband at the hotel.

He said: "She arrived at the hotel in the company of Ian Priddle. One of them was carrying a knife.

"Soon after their arrival, Khurum Mukhtar sustained serious stab wounds to his chest and abdomen and died very soon thereafter.

"Yasira Pervez blames Ian Priddle, Ian Priddle denies that he was present."

Mr Wright said both were "jointly responsible for the death of Khurum Mukhtar" and claimed a waiter who found the victim at the Comfort Inn Hotel had seen the couple enter the room with Mr Mukhter earlier.
