Blackpool wants £3m Vegas chapel

Las Vegas chapel
The chapel will be in a "Vegas style", said ReBlackpool

Couples could be able to tie the knot near Blackpool Tower in a Las Vegas style-chapel if a request for £3m regional funding is approved.

The chapel is part of the £14m Tower Festival Headland venture to create a 20,000 capacity performance area.

The urban regeneration company, ReBlackpool, said the grant request will be submitted to the North West Development Agency later this month.

The chapel would include a restaurant to offer wedding breakfasts.

The headland space will form part of a £92m redevelopment of the central seafront, which also includes new sea walls and promenade.

A spokesman for ReBlackpool said the project would also be supported by the £96m ongoing refurbishment of the seafront tramway.
