A woman has died after she was hit by a car on a motorway in east Lancashire.
Patsy Toomey, 40, from Burnley, was knocked down on the eastbound carriageway of the M65, in the Livesey area of Blackburn.
She suffered serious injuries in the accident on Sunday night and was taken to hospital, where she later died, police said.
The road was shut for two hours while officers carried out an investigation. They have appealed for witnesses.
The driver of the car involved in the accident was a 67-year-old man from Rawtenstall who was travelling with his wife.
They were not hurt, but were left shaken, police said.
