Family tied up in house robbery

A family-of-three are recovering after being held captive in their home during a robbery in Lancashire.

Four masked men entered the house in Slyne, near Lancaster, and restrained an elderly woman and her daughter.

Police said the male occupant arrived home to find the gang and was assaulted and detained when he tried to flee.

The man suffered a head injury and was admitted to hospital overnight. Police are still hunting the gang, who they said were also helped by a fifth man.

The five offenders fled after the robbery on Kellet Lane on Thursday evening, but it is not known how they made their escape.

Det Insp Phil Jones, leading the investigation, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the offence to get in touch.

"We believe a vehicle will have been involved and if anyone has any information at all that may possibly help with our enquiries we would urge them to get in touch as soon as possible."
