Sex attacks on two teenage girls

Two 17-year-old girls have been sexually assaulted in different parts of a Lancashire town.

The first teenager was approached from behind by a man who assaulted her as she walked along Thomas Street in Nelson on Tuesday morning.

The second girl was attacked on Tuesday night, as she stood outside The Eye Centre opticians on Gisburn Road.

Police are trying to work out if the attacks are linked. Anyone with information is urged to contact them.

In both cases, the attacker was described as Asian, aged about 18 to 20 and of slim build.

In the second incident, the man was carrying a dark-blue A4 size folder and a clear plastic bag tied with gold ribbon with cakes inside.

He had black hair, cut short at the sides and longer on the top.

He was described as having big wide eyes and being clean shaven and was wearing a black hip-length leather jacket and jeans.
