Man is arrested over shop robbery

An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store in Lancashire.

The incident took place at the Spar Shop on Poplar Avenue in Bamber Bridge at about 2115 BST on Wednesday.

A lone man was seen to enter the shop with a six inch (15cm) barrelled handgun and threaten staff who handed over cash from the till, police said.

A man was arrested at an address in Preston on Thursday night on suspicion of robbery.

No-one was hurt during the incident.
