Explosions at haulage yard blaze

An investigation is being carried out into a fire which caused a number of explosions at a haulage yard.

The fire broke out in a trailer at the back of the yard on Whittingham Lane, Longridge, on Sunday afternoon.

Police closed the road after a number of tyres exploded and there were fears the flames could have spread to surrounding tankers.

No homes were evacuated and the fire was brought under control by firefighters.

A 30ft (9.1m) trailer was destroyed by the blaze.
