Man, 19, injured in glass attack

A man has been attacked following a night out in Leyland, Lancashire.

The 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his face and neck, believed to have been caused by a glass, in the attack in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were called to Chorley Hospital at about 0300 BST after the man took himself to the hospital.

He was treated for his injuries and later released. Police are now trying to establish how the man came to receive his injuries.

Detectives are keen to speak to the driver of a silver car, possibly a taxi, which picked up the man and a male friend near to the Seven Stars pub, Fox Lane at about 0130 BST.

Due to the nature of the injuries both men would have been heavily blood-stained.

Det Chief Insp Mark Gray said: "A 19-year-old local man making his way home from a night out has sustained serious injuries to his head. He has been treated in hospital and has since been released.

"We are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident to try to establish exactly what has happened.

"I would like to encourage the driver of the silver car to come forward and speak to us as he may be able to help us to do that."
