Paedophile lured victim by mobile

A paedophile lured his 15-year-old victim with a Bluetooth search on his mobile phone, a court has heard.

Paul Taylor, 40, of Accrington, Lancashire, first came into contact with the schoolgirl when he randomly picked up her phone signal.

Bolton Crown Court heard he bombarded her with calls and text messages before they began a sexual relationship.

Taylor, who admitted eight counts of sexual activity with a child, was jailed for three years and two months.

He had also pleaded guilty to one count of sexual grooming at an earlier hearing.

Taylor, of Slaidburn Drive, was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and must not associate with children under 16, apart from members of his own family.

The court heard how he had initially told his teenage victim he was only 17 years old.

When police searched his address, police found evidence Taylor had been contacting other young girls using his mobile phone.

They found hand-written lists of girls' names and numbers, as well as ladies underwear and a bag of presents addressed to his 15-year-old victim.

Frightened and disgusted

Det Con Andy Livesey of Bolton Child Protection Unit said: "Taylor is a menace who was preying on young girls.

"He was well aware how young his victim was, but met and persisted in a wholly inappropriate relationship with her.

"She said she felt pressurised, frightened and was disgusted by him.

"Taylor obviously displayed predatory sexual behaviour.

"He represents a clear danger to young girls and I am glad he has been taken off the streets."

Bluetooth is a system which lets devices communicate by radio, without needing cables.

It is commonly used to send pictures, business cards, videos and sound files from mobile phones to other phones and computers.
