Teenager dies after car hits tree

A 19-year-old man has died after a car crash in West Lancashire.

Daniel Turton, from Blakefield Road in Crosby, was one of five people in a Fiat Punto that hit a tree on Wood Lane, Great Altcar, on Wednesday.

He was taken to Southport Hospital where he died with his family by his side on Thursday.

A 41-year-old man, two girls aged 16 and 18 from Formby, and a 16-year-old boy from Litherland remain in a serious condition in hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
