New £30m centre welcomes shoppers

A £30m shopping development has opened in the centre of Blackpool after years in the planning.

The extension to the Houndshill shopping centre, near to Blackpool Tower, was opened on Thursday.

The revival of Houndshill is included in the council's masterplan to bring new life to the seaside resort.

Debenhams is the flagship store in the new part of the centre, which has has an 800-space car park. A grand launch will be held on 6 September.
