Teenager dies in dirt bike crash

A 17-year-old boy has died after falling from his off-road motorcycle on a dirt track in West Lancashire.

Police believe Ryan Acaster, from Brinscall, near Chorley, was thrown from his bike after hitting a metal wire suspended between two trees.

The teenager was found lying on the ground near Winacre Lane at Martin Mere on Sunday afternoon.

He was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston hospital but had suffered serious head injuries and later died.

The case has been referred to Lancashire Police major investigation team.

Detectives do not believe think the wire was hung in a deliberate attempt to cause harm, but investigations are continuing.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
