Park stab attack trial date set

A man accused of trying to kill a 14-year-old girl in a knife attack in Lancashire will stand trial at the end of the year.

Jessica Knight was stabbed up to 30 times as she walked through Astley Park in Chorley in January.

French national Kristofer Beddar, of Daisy Hill Drive, Adlington, Chorley, is charged with attempted murder.

The 21-year-old is due to stand trial at Preston Crown Court on 1 December. The trial is expected to last a week.

Mr Beddar was originally due to stand trial on 14 July.
