A 57-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife, whose body was found in a fire at their Lancashire home.

Pamela Mulholland, 52, was found by firefighters at the couple's home house in Heritage Way, Tarleton, on Friday.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died from stab wounds.

David Mulholland, 57, appeared before Ormskirk magistrates. He was remanded in custody and is due before Preston Crown Court in October.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing.
