Detectives are continuing to question a man rescued from a fire at a house in which a woman was found dead.

The body of Pamela Mulholland, 52, was found by firefighters who broke into the house in Tarleton, Lancashire, in the early hours of Friday.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died from stab wounds.

A 58-year-old man pulled from the house was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of murder after his treatment.

The man has been held at Leyland police station since Friday.

It took firefighters more than three hours to bring the blaze under control at the newly-built 350,000 house on Heritage Way.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
