Cleared man will not face retrial

A Lancashire man who faced charges of indecently assaulting women dating back 30 years will not have a retrial.

Michael Dugdale, 60, who now lives in Spain, was cleared of 12 sexual offences on Wednesday following a trial at Preston Crown Court.

He was cleared of six counts each of indecent assault on a female and rape. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on four other indecent assault charges.

A decision was made not to retry him over the remaining counts on Friday.

He had originally been charged with 31 sexual offences dating back 30 years but was later reindicted on 16 charges.
