He was also a grandfather to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In a statement, his family said: "This is a devastating loss to a man who loved life and lived for his family and loved cruising on his motorbike with his wife for over 46 years.

"After retiring from British Telecom at the age of 60 Chris worked as a dedicated Volunteer Ambulance Car Driver for the NHS.

"Sleep tight Dad you will be truly missed by us all. We can't start to imagine life without you."

Lancashire police want to speak to a man who was seen walking his dogs in the area at the time of the accident.

Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to contact the police.

Sgt Peter Beresford said: "I would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact us and I'm keen to hear from people who may have seen the bus or bike prior to crash, and in particular a man who was walking his dogs.

"Also, anyone who was travelling eastbound towards that junction who may have witnessed something should contact us."
