Teenager, 13, dies at canal lock

A 13-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty at a canal lock in Lancashire.

The accident happened at the Lancaster Canal Lock on Tom Benson Way, Preston, at about 1430 BST on Sunday.

The teenager, from Preston, is believed to have been playing with friends at the water's edge.

A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said formal identification of the boy was taking place and police were investigating the circumstances.
