Cyclist killed in car collision

A 68-year-old cyclist has been killed in a collision with car in Lancashire, police have said.

John Whittaker was cycling down the A59 at Sawley Brow, near Clitheroe, on Sunday afternoon when he collided with a black Ford Focus.

Mr Whittaker, from Mellor, was badly injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
