Footage of murder victim released
David Cornall on CCTV
Mr Cornall was seen drinking in the Fox and Grapes pub
Police have released CCTV images of a man moments before he was stabbed in the back in Lancashire.

David Cornall, 30, was walking back to his home in Hesketh Close, Ribbleton, Preston, after a night out last Tuesday when he was attacked.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital and treated for a stab wound, but died about four hours later.

Detectives hope anyone who remembers seeing Mr Cornall will come forward and help with their inquiries.

The CCTV images show him in the Fox and Grapes pub in Preston, where he had been drinking until he left at about 2150 GMT.

On leaving the pub it is thought he went up Fishergate, on to Church Street before making his way either onto New Hall Lane or on to Miller Road.

Police are urging anyone who saw him in any of these areas between 2200 GMT and 2230 GMT to contact them.

He was wearing a red hooded jacket and a distinctive dark and patterned baseball cap at the time.

Det Supt Steve Brunskill, leading the investigation, said: "I am aware that those people may feel reluctant to come forward but I would reassure them that any information they can provide in confidence would be treated accordingly.

"I would also be interested in speaking with a man that David was with in the Fox and Grapes pub in Preston on the night of his death.

"I would stress that we do not believe this man to be involved in the murder but do think that he may be able to help."

The man who was in the pub with Mr Cornall is in his 40s with dark, short hair and was wearing a denim shirt or jacket over a white t-shirt with dark trousers.

He was also carrying a dark-coloured shoulder bag at the time.
