New jobs hope at Leyland Trucks

There are 1,300 employees at the Lancashire site

Up to 80 new jobs could be created at the Leyland Trucks assembly plant as a result of increased production.

The premises in Leyland, Lancashire, produce light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles which are delivered to Australia, Europe, and North America.

Production levels are to be increased from March, meaning the factory will have an output of 25,000 trucks a year.

There are 1,300 employees at the site, which also make vehicles under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates.

Managing director Jim Sumner said: "Leyland's success is due to the productivity of our excellent employees and significant capital investments made in recent years."
