New home for royal show approved
The proposed location
No music concerts can be held at the showground
Councillors have approved a new location for the Royal Lancashire Show.

Wyre Borough Council has granted planning permission for a showground on land between Barton and Bilsborrow owned by the Duchy of Lancaster.

Concern over traffic congestion was raised by those against the plans. Between 8,000 and 12,000 vehicles are expected at the show in July.

The new location is a former quarry just off the A6 road near Bilsborrow and covers nearly 300 acres.

Council members approved the location on condition that no music concerts could be held at the showground.

The summer agricultural show was cancelled last year after water logging affected its site near Ribchester.
