Pc Bradley was among three officers who drowned in the rescue attempt
A memorial service has taken place to mark the anniversary of the death of three police officers who drowned while trying to rescue a man in Lancashire.

Pc Angela Bradley, 23, Pc Gordon Alexander Connolly, 24, and 38-year-old Pc Colin Morrison died 25 years ago in the sea off Blackpool.

The trio had been trying to rescue Scotsman Alistair Anthony who was visiting the resort.

Mr Anthony also drowned in the tragedy on 5 January, 1983.

The service took place on the Queens Promenade, Gynn Square, close to where the accident happened.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said that officers past and present attended the ceremony to pay their respects to the gallantry of the three officers who died.
