Missing paedophile found in Paris
A convicted paedophile from Burnley, Lancashire, who went on the run before being sentenced has been arrested in Paris on prostitution-related charges.

Gerard Hayslop, 26, admitted 20 counts of making an indecent image of a child on 23 April at Burnley Crown Court and was bailed for pre-sentence reports.

When he failed to turn up at court on 3 August an arrest warrant was issued.

His girlfriend, Louise Howarth-Lee, has also been arrested on prostitution charges in Paris.

Extradition procedure

Lancashire Police confirmed the pair were in custody in Paris and were due to appear in court in the French capital in the next few days.

The force has initiated extradition procedures and is hoping to bring them back to the UK next week.

They are believed to be the two people who went missing in an inflatable canoe, from a Jersey campsite on 10 August.

It is thought they travelled to France after leaving the campsite, where they had registered under the aliases Andrew Keeble and Hannah Tye.
