PC worker's nicotine fix refusal
Currys department store
Mrs Dunn purchased the PC from Currys
A computer engineer refused to fix a woman's PC - because it was covered with nicotine.

Rosemary Dunn, of Blackburn, Lancashire, contacted Currys after spilling a cup of tea on the keyboard.

But when a technician arrived to fix the machine he refused to touch it on health and safety grounds.

A Currys spokesman revealed it was a personal decision by the employee and said the company was "absolutely not anti-smoking".

PC inspected

Mrs Dunn had taken out a repairs policy with the retailer when she purchased the computer.

The engineer informed her of his refusal after taking the back off the machine and finding it covered in material he believed was nicotine.

"Whilst it was very much a personal decision for him he declined to complete the work quoting health and safety concerns," said the spokesman.

"However, since then we have already been in contact and organised for the PC to be inspected at our workshop in order to resolve this issue amicably."

The spokesman said Currys would support any health and safety concerns expressed by its staff.
