Parents can get fined for their children's bad behaviour
Police are urging parents in Lancashire to take responsibility for their children's anti-social behaviour.

As part of force-wide campaign Operation Summer Nights, police in Morecambe are tackling underage drinking and anti-social behaviour.

Sgt Dal Dawkins said police wanted parents to be aware of where their children are and what they are doing.

He said parents could be fined for bad behaviour by their offspring, under anti-social behaviour laws.

Spot checks

Sgt Dawkins said: "The police and other agencies involved in Operation Summer Nights are seeking the positive support of parents to ensure their children are not involved in any disruptive and dangerous activities this summer.

"Parents have a responsibility to know where their children are and what they are doing.

"Parents can also be fined or subjected to orders under anti-social behaviour legislation for the acts committed by their children."

Police are also warning retailers about selling cigarettes, glue and aerosols to youngsters.

Spot checks and test purchases in conjunction with trading standards officers are being carried out.
