Driver badly hurt in wall smash
A 20-year-old motorist was seriously injured when he lost control of his car and smashed into a wall, police said.

The Vauxhall Corsa was the only car involved in the collision with the concrete wall and lamppost on Market Street in Whitworth, Lancashire.

Driver Ross Hill was taken to Rochdale Infirmary and later transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital.

Mr Hill, from Rochdale, is said to be critical after Saturday's crash. Officers are appealing for witnesses.

No-one else was in the car during the accident which happened at about 0520 BST, Lancashire Constabulary said.
