Town's landmark windmill reopens
Lytham windmill
The windmill is one of the town's most popular buildings
A town's iconic windmill, which was nearly destroyed by a fire about 90 years ago, has reopened to visitors.

Built on what is now Lytham Green in 1805, the Lancashire windmill is the landmark that everyone sees when they go to Lytham on the Fylde coast.

It has been renovated several times and now houses an exhibition of Lytham life over the past 100 years as well as a local shrimper's cottage.

The mill will be open and staffed by volunteers during the Easter holidays.

Lytham Mill was one of several mills on the Fylde and was worked until 1919 when a fire destroyed most of the machinery.

Lytham Heritage Group and Fylde Borough Council staff look after the popular attraction which is open on 4 - 9 April and 11 - 15 April.

The mill will then be open on Saturday 12 and 13 May for National Mills weekend.

Opening times for all days are between 1030 and 1630 BST.
