Company picked for resort revamp
Talbot Gateway development plan
The Gateway scheme will improve how visitors see the town
Councillors in Blackpool have chosen the Amec company to undertake a £230m redevelopment of one of the resort's main urban areas.

The Talbot Gateway transformation will include retail, housing and office developments with work on the Talbot Road site to be completed by 2011.

Proposals by three companies were examined on Wednesday evening.

Blackpool residents and businesses will be able to view the proposals from 3 April at St John's Church in the town.

Amec is an international company but does have a number of divisions based in the north west of England.

The complete Talbot Gateway project, costing around £230m, forms part of a transformation investment costing more than £1bn in Blackpool.
