Advice offered over mini turbines

Planning permission is needed for a turbine
People in Lancashire who are thinking of installing mini wind turbines at their homes are being urged to seek advice before doing so.

More and more people are approaching Fylde Borough Council for help about becoming more environmentally friendly.

Cllr Roger Small said many do not realise full planning permission is required for the domestic turbines.

He said detailed drawings of any proposed installation will need to be submitted to the council.

The council is also advising potential applicants to shop around for the best price for a wind turbine.

Some residents may also be eligible for a grant to help them reduce carbon emissions, he said.

Another method of reducing the cost of a planning application is to submit it through the Planning Portal on the council website.
