'Legionnaire's' factory to reopen
Kepak Group
A water tank is believed to have been the source of the bacteria
A Lancashire factory forced to shut when two workers caught Legionnaire's disease could soon be back in business.

The Kepak meat-boning plant at Walton Summit, near Preston, will reopen next month after tests revealed no-one else has been infected.

The source of the bacteria is believed to have come from a tank which supplies hot water to pressure hoses

One of the workers has recovered and the other is said to be making good progress in the Royal Preston Hospital.

The factory will be fully operational once the infected area has been cleaned and treated.

Legionnaires' disease - a form of pneumonia - can prove fatal, particularly in older people and the very young.

It is contracted when people breathe-in droplets of infected water and the symptoms are similar to flu in the early stages.
