Man, 28, denies teenager's murder

Charlene was 14 years old when she disappeared
A 28-year-old man accused of murdering a teenage girl who went missing in 2003 has denied the charge.

Iyad Albattikhi, 28, was remanded in custody by Preston Crown Court charged with murdering Charlene Downes on or around 1 November 2003.

Mr Albattikhi, of Dickson Road, will be tried at the court next February.

Fourteen-year-old Charlene Downes has not been seen since 1 November 2003 when she said she was going to a bar with friends.
