Clean up planned for River Lune
River Lune
The Duchy of Lancaster is responsible for the river bed
A big clean-up operation has been planned to spruce up the River Lune.

The Duchy of Lancaster, which is responsible for the river bed, has agreed to help fund the project by Lancaster City Council.

Mark Davies of the city council said sofas, shopping trolleys, rubbish bags, and pieces of wood are among the items dumped in the river.

Attempts will be made to clear the western bank from Skerton Bridge to Carlisle Bridge on Saturday.

The Lune flows from the Pennines and Eastern Lake District to Lancaster.
